Alongside a bourbon-tasting, Rabbi Drew Kaplan provided insights into the ceremonial ritual drinking practices of Shabbat last month for seniors last month. “Our Seniors Group had a fantastic time sampling bourbons, sipping cocktails, and learning about Jewish involvement in the bourbon world,” exclaimed Rockdale Temple‘s senior rabbi, Rabbi Meredith Kahan.

Leading a tasting of several delicious bourbons, most of which even the most seasoned whiskey-drinkers in the crowd had not previously enjoyed, Rabbi Drew Kaplan of Jewish Drinking led the Rockdale Temple’s 75+ Seniors Group through foundational rabbinic texts on Kiddush for Shabbat, along with speaking about the Great Kiddush and Havdallah.
“Rabbi Drew was energetic, knowledgeable, and connected beautifully with our group of senior adults,” Rabbi Kahan shared. “Rabbi Drew infused his teaching with humor, connection, and fun – our group loved tasting and learning with him!”
