In advance of attending Hillel International’s Global Assembly (HIGA) last week in Boston, Rabbi Drew Kaplan led a class discussion last week at the Lehrhaus on Drunkenness in the Mishnah and the Tosefta.
Having spoken last year at Lehrhaus (also prior to HIGA), Rabbi Drew returned to lead an investigation of all of the instances of drunkenness in the Mishnah and the Tosefta, a topic upon which he had previously published an episode of The Jewish Drinking Show. This exploration provided an opportunity for attendees to gain insights into how the early rabbis considered drunkenness.
